The Role of Echocardiography in Coronary Artery Disease and Acute Myocardial Infarction

چکیده
Echocardiography is a non-invasive diagnostic technique which provides information regarding cardiac function and hemodynamics. It is the most frequently used cardiovascular diagnostic test after electrocardiography and chest X-ray. However, in a patient with acute chest pain, Transthoracic Echocardiography is essential both for diagnosing acute coronary syndrome, zeroing on the evaluation of ventricular function and the presence of regional wall motion abnormalities, and for ruling out other etiologies of acute chest pain or dyspnea, including aortic dissection and pericardial effusion. Echocardiography is a versatile imaging modality for the management of patients with chest pain and assessment of left ventricular systolic function, diastolic function, and even myocardial and coronary perfusion and is, therefore, useful in the diagnosis and triage of patients with acute chest pain or dyspnea. This review has focused on the current applications of echocardiography in patients with coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction.

Relationship between the location of the most severe myocardial perfusion defects, the most severe coronary artery stenosis and the site of subsequent myocardial infarction [Persian]
This study evaluated the relationship between the location of the most severe coronary artery stenosis and the subsequent acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methods: Of 1590 patients who were admitted with a diagnosis of AMI, we identified 44 patients who had undergone previous myocardial perfusion SPECT. Thirty-one of these patients also had previous coronary angiography. The relationshi...

Technetium-99m-pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) has been used, in combination with thallium-201, to estimate the site and extent of myocardial infarcts. We report a case of acute myocardial infarction with severe coronary disease in which the distribution of 99mTc-PYP was extensive. A 78-year-old man presented with dyspnea, and a diagnosis of non-ST-segment elevation acute myocar...

Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the most important and lethal diseases in the world. CAD represents a board spectrum of disease from silent ischemia at one end to sudden cardiac death at the other end. The middle of this spectrum consists of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and unstable angina pectoris (UA). Recent data show that the inflammatory process plays a major r...

Some investigatoes reported taht there is a relationship between.H.pylori chronic infection and the prevalence of acute coronary artery disease(CAD).it is suggested that H.pylori chronic infection causes some changes in serum levels of lipids an lipoproteins and produces inflamatory proteins which could give rise to thrombogenesis.in order to comfirm any correlation between positive history of...
متن کاملClinicopathological study in an ovine model of experimental acute myocardial infarction
To evaluate the prognostic significance of clinicopathological measurement in the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (MI) in sheep, acute MI was induced by ligation of left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD). For this purpose, twenty four healthy sheep were divided into the sham-operated or control group (group I, thoracotomy without MI) and the experimental group (group II, with M...
متن کاملICAM-1 Polymorphisms (G241R, K469E), in Coronary Artery Disease and Myocardial Infarction
Background: Inflammation plays a critical role in atherogenesis. The initial step in atherosclerosis is the adhesion of leukocytes to activated endothelial cells mediated by ICAM-1, an inflammatory protein. Several polymorphisms for Intracellular adhesion molecule -1(ICAM-) gene have been described. Objective: To determine the possible role of G241R and K469E polymorphisms in development of cor...
